Our office is currently open to the public to answer basic questions, pick-up or drop-off documents, and schedule virtual, telephone, and in-person appointments. We are also assisting emergency walk-ins which address severe financial, housing, or immediate medical concerns. A Veteran Services Officer will be available to meet in-person with residents who are unable to meet virtually.

What This Means

Carver County Veteran Services continues to operate and be engaged with our community.

The staff at Carver County Veteran Services are here to help residents who have served in the US Armed Forces and their dependents navigate the complex Department of Veteran Affairs system. This includes assisting with obtaining VA Healthcare, Compensation, Pension, service retiree benefits, education benefits, VA home loans and all other related veterans benefits for which they are eligible at the federal, state, and local levels.

We are available for phone calls as well as appointments via phone calls, virtual means, and in-person. We encourage veterans to contact us by phone (952) 442-2323 and/or via email at vso@co.carver.mn.us. After leaving us a message (be sure to include your last four of your SSN), we'll follow up with you during business hours. Please note that our return calls may read "No Caller ID".

Carver County Veteran Services is the department charged by the County Board of Commissioners through MN State Statute 197.60 to “appoint a county veterans service officer” who possesses ”training and education for the duties of the position, including development of an effective working knowledge of relevant laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.” Because of this mandated State Statute, we are required by law to work with veterans at no charge to the client.

Transportation Requests for VAMC Appointments

Our Veterans Transportation Program is currently operational.

We transport veterans to and from their VA Medical Center appointments Monday thru Thursday, and to the Shakopee VA Clinic for appointments each Wednesday (calendar permitting).
