Natural Resource Inventories (NRIs) are valuable tools that identify the biological and physical diversity of a landscape.  NRIs describe the natural resources within a given area, identify major management issues of concern and offer stewardship strategies for natural resource management and protection. For citizens, land owners, and resource professionals alike, NRIs identify stewardship practices that can make a difference in resource protection, preservation, and improvement.

With only a fraction of the original Big Woods remaining in Carver County and only small fragments of the prairies and savannas existing, it is important that we manage these areas for the enjoyment of future generations and to preserve biological diversity.
