The following Job Classifications in Health and Human Services are subject to State of Minnesota licensing requirements.
Bus Driver
A Bus Driver requires a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a passenger endorsement.
Social Worker I & II (Bachelors Level)
Licensure for Bachelor Level Social Workers who are employed by a County is voluntary pursuant to Minnesota Statues 148.055. Carver County follows state law and does not require bachelor’s level Social Workers to be licensed. Carver County’s minimum qualifications for a Social Worker I or II are as follows:
- BA or BS in social work, psychology, sociology, or related area.
- Minimum of one year previous experience in human/social services.
Note: Some Social Worker I and II’s choose to be licensed and are typically licensed as a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or any of the licenses listed under the Social Worker III classification.
Social Worker III (Masters Level)
Social Worker III’s are required to have a license consistent with the type of duties they are performing. A Social Worker III can have one of the following licenses:
- Board of Social Work
- Licensed Social Worker (LSW)
- Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW)
- Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW)
- Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW)
- Board of Marriage and Family Therapy
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
- Board of Psychology
- Licensed Psychologist (LP)
- Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
- Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
Therapist, Psychotherapist & Crisis Therapist
Staff in these therapy classifications are required to have a clinical license. Staff have one of the following licenses:
- Board of Social Work
- Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW)
- Board of Marriage and Family Therapy
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
- Board of Psychology
- Licensed Psychologist (LP)
- Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy
- Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
Psychologist
These positions will be licensed as a Licensed Psychologist (LP) pursuant to Minnesota Statutes 148.90
Nurses
Health and Human Services employs nurses in four different job classifications. Each is licensed by the Minnesota Board of Nursing pursuant to Minnesota Statutes 148.191 to 148.285 as follows:
- Clinical Nurse Specialist – Registered Nurse (RN) with Certification as Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health.
- Nurse Case Manager – Registered Nurse (RN)
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Public Health Nurse (PHN)
Clinical Director
This position will be licensed as follows:
- Psychologist (LP)
- Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW)
Behavioral Health Manager, Child and Family Services Manager, Child and Family Supervisor, Crisis Program Supervisor and Community Support Supervisor
These managerial and supervisory positions require one of the clinical licenses as follows:
- Board of Social Work
- Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW)
- Board of Marriage and Family Therapy
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
- Board of Psychology
- Licensed Psychologist
- Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy
- Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
- Board of Nursing
- Registered Nurse (RN) with Certification in Psychiatric Nursing
