What does it mean to reuse? It is purchasing items that can be used over and over again, like cloth napkins instead of paper ones.

Many of the things we normally think of as recyclable or as garbage can be used again or made into a new, useful product. Sometimes it really isn’t garbage, just resources waiting to be reused.

We all have items we no longer want. Before you throw the item out, ask yourself these questions: Is the item reusable for its original purpose? Could it be used for something else? Could someone else use it?

At School

Did you know?  More than 80% of school supplies have the potential to be reused at the end of the school year!

Buy Used

Looking for a new lawnmower, basketball hoop or children’s bike? Rather than buying new, look to buy gently used items from others who no longer need or want these items!

Donation

If you don’t have the time or ability to sell your unwanted items, consider donating them to a charitable organization so that they may be used rather than thrown in the trash.

Fix & Maintain

Do you have old, broken or worn out shoes, furniture, or small engine devices just sitting in your home or garage? Rather than throwing these items away, consider repairing, maintaining or repurposing them.

Product Reuse Room

From your shelves to ours! Bring in your unneeded paint, cleaners, automotive, or lawn products to the Environmental Center. Some of what you drop off may be stocked in our FREE product reuse room!

Rent & Borrow

Renting or borrowing is a great alternative to buying expensive household tools used infrequently, a good idea when trying a new sport, and a great resource for books, movies and other media.

Resale

Before you toss the stuff you no longer want, consider reselling it. With the internet, selling your unwanted items is nearly as easy as tossing them in the trash!
