HIPPA rules and regulations are followed. Releases are signed as appropriate and needed. Due to the nature of crisis services, some information may be shared to ensure client and community safety.
The Carver County Crisis team sees Children, Adolescents and Adults.
If you are having a psychiatric emergency within the county and need emergency mental health services you may be able to be seen by the Crisis team. Services are traditionally provided to the residents of Carver County.
If you live in another county and are in need of psychiatric services, you may still contact the Crisis team via phone for support or your local crisis team.

These services are provided in homes, police departments, specific hospitals, juvenile detention centers, schools, jails, mental health centers, and other community locations. Crisis services are provided within Carver County.
Am I going to be billed for Crisis services? What if I feel I cannot afford to be seen or am worried about finances?
Crisis services are provided regardless of the client’s ability to pay, however, an attempt to obtain reimbursement through private and public health insurance will be made when services are covered by the insurance.
If you are having financial trouble and want to discuss any potential options please refer to Financial Assistance programs. Financial Assistance provides information on the county’s Emergency Assistance programs and other types of assistance.

- CAP Agency of Scott and Carver Counties has information on food shelves and other financial services. Call 952- 496-2125. CAP,or Community Action Partnership, is a local agency that has programming to help with basic needs of community members http://www.capagency.org/
Crisis is able to provide referrals to community resources for housing. There are no shelters for the homeless in Carver County.

- CAP Agency Scott and Carver Counties administers the Family Homeless Prevention and Assistance Program (FHPAP).Call 952- 496-2125.
- Salvation Army provides some housing resources in Minneapolis.
- HousingLink provides access to affordable rental housing information.
- Carver County Community Development Agency (CDA) offers subsidized housing programs and services for those facing home foreclosures. Call 952-448-7715.
- The Bridge for Youth has programming specifically for teens who are facing homelessness. Visit their website or call 612-377-8800. They also offer a text line 612-400-SAFE (7233).
Mental Health Crisis Team staff are Mental Health Professionals. They are not licensed to prescribe medications. The Crisis Team can help refer clients and community members to local providers who can help with medication needs.
The Crisis Team is unable to provide chemical specific evaluations. There are a number of local providers who can do chemical specific assessments and treatments. You will need to contact your insurance company directly to see if a provider is in-network or not.

Suicide Loss Survivors Support Group: A First Street Center Behavioral Health staff person facilitates a Suicide Loss Survivors Support Group open to anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one to suicide. The group meets at 6:30 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at the Moravian Church of Waconia, 209 East 2nd Street, Waconia. The support group follows the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention curriculum for facilitating support groups. Call (952) 442-7613 for more information.
