Emergency Assistance:

Emergency Assistance is help for qualifying people that are faced with an unexpected emergency expense. Emergency situations include: preventing foreclosure, preventing eviction, moving expenses, utility disconnections and home repairs.  Emergency Assistance is available to pregnant women and families with children under age 18 (or underage 19 if they meet the definition of minor child under MFIP criteria) who are in an emergency situation and meet the other eligibility criteria  defined by the Carver County Emergency Assistance Policy. Carver County has limited state funds that are set aside annually for emergency situations. Once these funds are exhausted, the County is unable to provide Emergency Assistance until new funding is received.  Families can only receive Emergency Assistance once every 12 months..

Emergency General Assistance:

Emergency General Assistance is emergency help for adults that can provide short-term financial support for qualifying people that are facing an unexpected emergency. Emergency situations include: preventing foreclosure, preventing eviction, moving expenses, utility disconnections and home repairs.  EGA can only be issued to a household once every 12 months.

SNAP (Expedited Food):

Some people may be eligible to receive food right away. In order to receive food right away you have to meet one of these criteria:

• Migrant/Destitute
• Resources Less Than or Equal To $100 and Income Less Than $150
• Resources Plus Income Less Than Shelter Costs
