The Child and Family Department includes services for Child Protection, Children's Mental HealthFoster Care Licensing, and other child welfare services. This includes preventative and mandatory services to support the safety and well-being of children and families in our community.

The department uses Signs of Safety, a strengths-based, safety-focused child protection intervention strategy in its work with families. The primary goal of the program is the safety of children. Since the department implemented Signs of Safety in 2004, the County has seen a significant decrease in the number of out-of-home placements. The Child and Family staff has been involved in promoting the approach on a national and international level.

Call Intake at (952) 361-1600 to access information about Child and Family services.
