A Veterans Court is a problem solving court that is intended to serve veterans struggling with addiction, serious mental illness and/or co-occurring disorders. The Court promotes sobriety, recovery, and stability through a coordinated response that involves cooperation and collaboration with the traditional partners found in the problem solving courts, with the addition of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and U.S. Department of Veterans Benefits Administration, volunteer veteran mentors, and veterans family support organizations. 

Eligibility is evaluated by the First Judicial District Veterans Court team on a case-by-case basis.
