The Recreation Services Unit is comprised of a licensed sergeant and licensed deputies.

Licensed deputies and volunteers utilize ATV's to assist with park patrol and respond to calls for service. The Carver County Sheriff's Office continues to assist with education and training for youth ATV riders.

Park Patrol
The Carver County Sheriff's Office utilizes licensed deputies, community service officers (CSO) and volunteers to patrol the parks within the county. When visiting any of the parks in the county, visitors should keep the following rules in mind:
- Parking is limited to designated areas. Owners of boats and trailers need to be especially cognizant of posted parking regulations.
- Littering will not be tolerated. (Littering is a misdemeanor in the state of Minnesota)
- Dog owners should be aware
- Dogs must be on a leash and under the owner's control
- Barking dogs need to be removed so as not to create a nuisance
- Dog waste must be cleaned up

Snowmobile Patrol
Licensed deputies and volunteers are utilized to enforce the laws and ordinances of the snowmobile trails. Any person born after December 31, 1976 is required to possess a snowmobile safety certificate to operate a snowmobile in the state of Minnesota. To obtain a safety certificate, an operator must complete a snowmobile safety training course. For a list of currently scheduled classes around the state, check the DNR Website.

Licensed deputies and volunteers patrol and respond to incidents that may occur on the lakes and rivers within Carver County. The water patrol is responsible for inspections of watercraft, assisting the dive team during training and emergency operations, and education of safe boating practices.
Grants from the federal and state government assist in funding the water patrol.
