The Records Unit coordinates, classifies, and processes all data associated with the calls for service (CFS) generated through the communications center. The Records Unit ensures that all records are processed according to MNJIS (Minnesota Justice Information Systems) requirements, Sheriff’s Office procedures, e-charging, and various other agencies requirements. Other duties include transcribing statements, citations, image scanning, data entry of all information into the in-house RMS (Records Management System) and NIBRS (National Incident-Based Reporting System).

One of the services Carver County Sheriff's Office provides for the public is data requests. If you would like a copy of an accident report, police report, 911 call transcript and other various types of public data collected by the sheriff's office you can put in a request either by E-mail, phone, or walk up. There are fees associated with data request. Fees are listed on the Data Request Form.

The financial technician processes employee time cards, assists with tracking of employee hours to include contract communities, is responsible for various budgetary duties and county wide alarm billing. The administrative support specialist is responsible for office wide claims processing, various financial and administrative duties while the administrative civil specialist provides reception duties to all incoming non-emergency phone calls, assists the general public with a wide variety of issues and provides assistance to the civil process assistant.

Background investigators conduct backgrounds on potential employees and volunteers; liquor licenses and various required licenses; process outside requests for in house record checks and all applications for permit to carry and permit to purchase/transfer firearm permits.

Permit to Purchase/Transfer applications can either be printed off the BCA website or picked up from our office. You will need a permit to purchase/transfer application that is complete and your photo ID. If you are a Chaska resident then you will turn it into the Chaska Police Department, otherwise all other Carver County residents will turn it in to the Sheriff's Office.

Permit to Carry applications can either be printed off the BCA website or picked up from out office. You must have taken your firearms class prior to applying for a permit to carry. The cost for a new application is $75.00 and $50.00 for a renewal. You cannot mail in a permit to carry.
