Victim/Witness Services
Mission Statement
The mission of the Carver County Victim/Witness Program is to work directly with victims to reduce the impact of the crime. Staff will work towards assisting crime victims in rebuilding their lives through support, information and referrals.
The Carver County Victim/Witness Program will protect the statutory rights of crime victims, provide emergency assistance in the immediate aftermath of the crime, and provide on-going support to ease the process of participation in the criminal justice system.
The Carver County Victim/Witness Program will also assist witnesses who have been subpoenaed to appear in court.
The Carver County Victim/Witness Program has three staff members that are available, at differing levels, to provide crisis intervention services, emergency resources, support counseling, referrals, support during a criminal proceeding, assistance with compensation claims and other services as required by individual circumstances.
Staff members are equipped to work with interpreters to assist crime victims.
Carver County Attorney’s Office recognizes that many factors can increase someone’s risk of being victimized, their ability to engage in the criminal justice process fully, and the long-term impacts of victimization on their wellbeing. The Victim/Witness Risk and Resources Map is a visual tool designed to help confront and remove barriers for those impacted by crime, or at risk of being impacted by crime, in Carver County may face, such as access to transportation, affordable housing, service centers, and food relief resources.
